Academic advising will now be available virtually for military students at the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC), according to Radio.com.
During the meetings, which will take place on Zoom through Virtual Advising Rooms, military students can discuss topics such as course registration, financial aid, educational goals.
Since its establishment over 70 years ago, UMGC has focused on making education accessible to service members, veterans and their families. It became one of the first universities to offer online courses, Radio.com reported.
“Throughout the last several months of operating 100 percent virtually, UMGC’s military and veteran advisors have worked with thousands of military-affiliated students,” said Kelly Wilmeth, vice president of Stateside Military Operations at UMGC, in a statement. “Students have expressed sincere gratitude to our advisors, not only for providing the services in a virtual environment that they normally provide onsite at military education centers, but also for being there as a lifeline during these very challenging times.”
