Warrior’s Heart Project Helps Veterans Adapt

More than four decades after serving in Vietnam, Perry Famularo still feels the sting of being rejected by other Americans after returning from the controversial war.

“Civilians were really mean to us,” said Famularo, who served in the Marine Corps from 1970 to 1974. “They thought we were all crazy, wild maniacs. … It wasn’t, ‘Welcome home vets. Come have a job.’ It was, ‘Get away. You’re women and baby killers.’ It was bad.”
