U.S. Air Force Creates Two Teams to Address Issues Among LGBTQA and Native American Servicemembers

The U.S. Air Force has created two teams to address issues affecting airmen and Space Force Guardians in the LGBTQA or Native American communities, Military.com reported.

On April 26, the service announced the creation of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer/Questioning Initiative Team (LIT) and the Indigenous Nations Equality Team (INET) to better examine issues to diversity, career limitations and retention.

“With the addition of these two groups, we will have a better understanding of barriers to service, which allows us to enhance our diversity and inclusion,” said Gwendolyn DeFilippi, assistant deputy chief of staff for manpower, personnel and services. “Our Airmen and Guardians are the pulse of our Department’s culture and the diverse backgrounds; inputs from these volunteer groups [are] vital.”
