Wisconsin’s technical colleges are supposed to provide a more affordable option for career training than four-year universities or for-profit schools.

But figures from the U.S. Department of Education show that many tech school students are facing bigger financial challenges than a few years ago.

The cost of attendance has climbed. The typical graduate is leaving with more debt. And many students are failing to pay their loans on time.
