Brigadier Gen. Kerry L. Muehlenbeck Appointed First Woman to Command Arizona National Guard

Brigadier Gen. Kerry L. Muehlenbeck has been appointed adjutant general and director of the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs (DEMA), AZ Family.com reported.

Muehlenbeck’s appointment – by Gov. Doug Ducey – makes her the first woman to command the Arizona National Guard.

Muehlenbeck is department chair of Mesa Community College’s Administration of Justice Studies Department.

In the past, she taught at Arizona State University, American Military University in West Virginia and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Before teaching, Muehlenbeck was deputy county attorney at the Pima County Attorney’s Office from 1998 – 2001, an assistant prosecuting attorney for the Saginaw County Prosecutor’s Office from 1992 – 1993 and Assistant Staff Judge Advocate at the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base from 1993 – 1997.
