Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) and Louisiana Tech University (LA Tech) have partnered to create a pathway for students seeking to join the U.S. Air Force, KTAL NBC 6 reported.
This will allow students to complete their two-year degree at BPCC while participating in LA Tech’s AFROTC program, Detachment 305.
“Opening up the Bossier Parish Community College avenue to become an Air Force or Space Force officer is one of the best ways we can increase the pool of talent for tomorrow’s leaders,” said Capt. Nick Lewis, Det 305, LA Tech. “The close relationship Louisiana Tech has had with BPCC paves the way for people to progress toward a commission while taking their education at a pace they are comfortable with.”
Detachment 305 is also the host AFROTC unit of University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM), Grambling State University, Northwestern State University (NSU) and BPCC, according to its website.
Students will be with Detachment 305 throughout their two years at BPCC and then finish their remaining two years of required ROTC service at another school. Students graduating from BPCC can choose to attend LA Tech, Grambling, ULM or NSU – all four have transfer agreements with BPCC.
