Political Battle in Albany Over Free College Education For Military Families

The chance for family members, of those who die in active duty, to go to college for free in New York State might not become a reality. A bill offering free tuition, room and board at SUNY and CUNY Schools was snuffed out in a state assembly committee.

The assembly higher education committee voted to put a hold  on Bill A2991 this week – meaning it won’t move forward at this time.  Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R,C,I-Batavia) sponsored the bill, he says he first presented it back in 2009.
