BRIDGEPORT — The University of Bridgeport will cut the ribbon Thursday on a STEM on Wheels bus that will bring hands-on science — and a robot named Dash — to area schools.
The mobile laboratory will teach students how to code, retrieve and interpret satellite data by contacting earth orbiting satellites and about mechatronics, a melding of mechanics and electronics.
“This is going to be awesome. The second the kids see the bus, they are going to lose their minds,” said Roosevelt School Principal Jackie Simmons. Roosevelt is one of the schools that will initially benefit from the bus.
In addition, the bus will begin its pilot year working with Geraldine Claytor Magnet Academy, the Discovery Interdistrict Magnet School and the Bridgeport Military Academy.
