Coding Bootcamp Turns to New Funding Model

Once a hailed as a key to pushing more workers into the middle class, the coding boot camp industry is wrestling with its future following a spate of high-profile closures. Amid these challenges, one boot camp owned by a for-profit college chain is hoping to lure more students by allowing them finance their degrees by selling stock in themselves.

New York Code + Design Academy, a coding school owned by Strayer Education, which also operates more traditional for-profit college programs across the country, plans to offer students the ability to finance the 12-week $15,000 course by paying the school a percentage of their salary after they graduate.
