Army War College Gets New Chief

Major General John S. Kem has been selected to serve as the next commandant of the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle.

Kem currently serves as the provost of the Army University and deputy commandant of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Kem will replace Maj. Gen. Bill Rapp as the commandant.

The official change of command ceremony will be held in early August.

“I can think of no better individual to be the next Commandant of the Army War College,” Rapp said in a prepared release. “John Kem is an exceptional leader and educator.”
