Student Veterans Take a Journey

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — On the first night of their trip to Greece, student veterans on a special Stockton University trip were told to leave their bags outside their hotel doors in the morning to be picked up for transport.

“Not one veteran was trusting enough to do that,” said Jason Babin, assistant director of student rights and responsibilities, who is also an Army veteran. “Soldiers are trained to keep track of their personal belongings.”

Their views changed. By the end of the trip, everyone had let go not only of their bags, but also some of the emotional baggage they carried as they adjusted from the military to life back at home and at college.
