Texas Revisits Military Dependents’ Funding

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas lawmakers are once again gearing up for a debate over a program that gives free college tuition to veterans kids.
Those who want to scale back the Legacy Provision of the Hazlewood Act say it’s become too expensive to sustain. State universities have said the program has grown larger than expected. But opponents of recently-filed legislation say keeping the program in tact is the least they can do to thank those who have served.
