In an effort to help bring the next-generation F-35A fighter jet to Montgomery, a bill was introduced to offer local Guardsmen tuition assistance.
Currently ranked 48th in the nation, Alabama’s tuition support for National Guardsmen is “killing” the city’s chances to land the high-tech jet and with it the preservation of more than 4,000 jobs, said Air Force retired Brig. Gen. Paul Hankins.
